Over the years I have used portraiture as catalyst to explore color, texture, form and drawing. My thinking is that if I can approach painting in an improvisational way similar to how bands jammed in the late 60s with a simple 12 bar blues to find new musical directions. In short, my portraits are painted with an exploratory mindset heavily inspired by the live musical approach of Jimi Hendrix.
